Studio Time

Studio time for someone who spends time in a different type of studio.

I recently had the pleasure to work with Heather Cimarrusti to try and capture a picture for her to use for her new Christmas album. Once the CD is out I will publish a post for where you can buy it. I can't wait to see how it will turn out. The plan is to use some heavy stylized art on and around the photo.

Below are some of the quickly edited proofs for you to check out. I hope it gives you a taste of what is to come. Merry Christmas!

Sunny Saturday Shooting

There is nothing like seeing the joy of new parents. This is especially true when it is one of your close friends.

With that said we packed up the car and headed behind the cheese curtain to visit our friends and to take some pictures of their wonderful new little girl Katherine Grace. Not only did we have a blast with our friends, we were able to shoot outside for a bit. Can you believe that in November! Katie was a champ, and was very photogenic. Here is a quick preview of there StudioPhotoGraphie shoot.

To read more about the Lyman's and Baby Katie, check their blog out - http://katherinegracelyman.com/blog/

Check back soon for previews of my other recent shoot, Baby Droessler.

Study - My Ovation

A study. That is what I have decided to do when work is slow in the studio. Here is my first subject, my dear Ovation. With a little work and some technique she blesses me with beautiful rich sound. The shallow back does not give some of the deep sounds that you get from traditional acoustics, but it has its own special flavor. Below are some of the pho's that show the uniqueness of the guitar.
Where sweet solos are made....
Some unique shadows from its curvy body.
If you guessed "where the sound comes from," you are right.
The anchor for the strings.
The unique shallow back.
Where strings become music.
A beautiful neck.

Dreaden Steele

First off, thanks to all six of you who visit my blog. I hope that my insight and photos are rewarding to you. Now to the post.

You may wonder what Dreaden Steele is. If I were to regularly shoot photos in the city I would use that as my "pen name" or in this case photog name. There is just something about the city that evokes different kinds of emotions. Steal, brick, concrete, water, sky and grass. Then there are all the people and activities. Why Dreaden Steele? It just feels like it encompases the above.

I hope that the photos below not only show you the different materials that makes up the city, but also the different moods of the city. Enjoy.
Note: to see high-res, you must click on the picture and forgive my bad PS work.

Love the contrast of the buildings on the "bean" more to come
A scene out of Dark Night? A sinister view of Harbor Point and Wacker Dr area.

Apocalyptic image? Antiqued version of the Sears Tower.
Color contrast on the cloud (bean).
These next few are just fun, unaltered pictures using the bean as a canvas.

Modern and old school, did you know these were next to each other?
Soft white foreground - colors and shapes in the background
Then some of my girls in the city.

Love this one!

A Classic and a Classic Moment

When you have a classic muscle car in your garage what do you think it will be used for?
Maybe a trip to the Dog and Suds or maybe a quick jaunt out down a back road to "warm up" the rubber. Or perhaps a cruise to the lake to enjoy the sound of a Chevy small block on the way. But in our house this summer, my '67 Camaro has turned into a sippy cup holder when my girls play in the drive way. Good thing its an RS so they can stash their cups in the front headlight recess. Enjoy some fun pictures.

Summer Time

Those two words used to summon many different things than they do now. It would have meant turning Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff up as loud as possible and heading to the beach to have fun with the boys.
But now days summer means something different. Below is a perfect example of my summers now (Bells little toes in the grass). Fun in the yard, running around playing in the sprinkler with my beautiful girls. No better way to spend time, than this way!

More fun summer pics will be posted soon.

What Spring Brings

We as a family have been able to see a new family in the making. We were able to see a new set of baby birds grow up and fly the proverbial coup. It is fun seeing how they start out as just little babies and grow up quickly. The mom bird feeding them, keeping an eye on them at all times. Bella loved watching it all. The first time they jumped out of the nest, was such a shock. They could barely fly, but attempted it anyway. Makes me think I need to step to the edge more often and just jump at new opportunities that come my way.
Enjoy some of the pictures of the baby birds (click on tho photos for HIres).

Peaking out the nest at a crazy guy on a ladder.

Aniv Pics of Me and My Baby

What is more fun than setting up your camera and using the auto timer? Spending the afternoon with you beautiful bride.
Below are some fun pics that I took of us at the beach enjoying our dinner as we celebrated our 9th anniversary. The weather was cold for June, but we still had fun.

Nature In the Burbs

With the family in town and a reservation at noon after church, we had some time to kill. So we swung into an old favorite of ours, Long Grove. Who would have known that we would have been able to see some "wild" life in LG. My little girls had a blast playing and feeding the baby swans, ducks and geese.

McPregos

I had a great opportunity to do a session for some of my best friends Kelli and Josh McMahon. They are expecting a beautiful new girl. So we took advantage and were able to get some great photos from them. Here is a quick sample of the day.
Enjoy
Happy Easter!
